Sanbox/Outdoor Switch

Each two-node sanbox/outdoor setup has a 16 port Netgear GS716T Gigabit Smart Switch with the FQDN of sw-sbXX.orbit-lab.org (where XX is sanbox number 01-09) or sw-outXX.orbit-lab.org. On each switch ports 1-4 are reserved for CM subnet, ports 5-8 for sanbox control subnet while ports 9-12 are reserved for sanbox data subnet. Ports 13-15 are assigned to network management while port 16 is, as in the case of other Orbit switches, used for uplink.

Switch Configuration

Make sure switch is connected with port 16 to untagged port on the upstream switch. Use SmartWizard to set up default password, location and DHCP as shown in No image "Smartwizard.jpg" attached to Internal/Network/SBSwitches ().

After configuration check VLANs setup by looking at the switch status and make sure that looks something like this (example is for sanbox 1 → sw-sb01):

IEEE 802.1Q PVID Table

Port PVID Port PVID Port PVID Port PVID
01 3 02 3 03 3 04 3
05 11 06 11 07 11 08 11
09 12 10 12 11 12 12 12
13 1 14 1 15 1 16 1

IEEE 802.1Q VLAN Settings

VLAN ID Member Port
01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16
1 U U U U
3 U U U U T T T T
11 U U U U T T T T
12 U U U U T T T T

Configuration is done under the VLAN entry.

Note: New switch has to be connected to the upstream switches untagged port for SmartWizard to even see it. Once new switch is configured with VLANs the upstream switch port should be configured for propper VLAN trunkning.
