Distributed Spectrum and Channel Assignment
Distributed Spectrum and Channel Assignment
WINLAB Summer Internship 2021
Group Members: Zhile Li, Samuel Sayles, Aditya Shrivastava
Project Objective
The goal for this project is to make the spectrum usage for wireless communication be more effectively.
Several objectives:
- Using nodes in Orbit lab to transmit, receive and observe the signal and transmission process
- Collect data from the transmission process
- Use of AI/ML to optimize the efficiency of spectrum
Due to current operating status at Rutgers, in-person lab work with the physical hardware will have to wait until later in the summer.
Week 1 Activities
- Study the basic idea of spectrum sensing
- Set up Orbit and get familiar to the use of lab
- Week 1 Presentation
Week 2 Activities
- Researched previous works on our topic
- Got familiar with previous experiments that have been similar to what we will be doing.
- Week 2 Presentation
Week 3 Activities
- Repeat the transmission experiment in the paper
- In sandbox, use different nodes as transmitter, receiver and observer to observe the transmission process
- Week 3 Presentation
Week 5 Activities
- In USRP, try to capture the waveform and plot them in time-domain
- Week 5 Presentation
Week 6 Activities
- Looked into ML approach
- We looked into some datasets online but figured creating them would be better
- Met with one of our advisors and walked through collection scripts
- Week 6 Presentation
Week 7 Activities
- Focus on Data collection for future ML training
- Using orbit lab/ grid to transmit, receive and observe in different conditions
- Week 7 Presentation
Week 8 Activities
- Continued working on data scripts
- Troubles with file sharing and bug fixing
- Week 8 Presentation
